How far ahead you can book, what time dates open, and the rules that trip people up.
The rules
- DCR opens the whole system on one announced day each winter. In 2026 that was Wednesday, February 18, at 9 a.m. The 2027 date isn't announced yet. Source, checked October 27, 2026
- After that, each date opens 4 months ahead, one day at a time. Source, checked October 27, 2026
- Release time: 8 a.m. from April 1 through Labor Day; the rest of the year 9 a.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. on weekends (ReserveAmerica's posted open time). Source, checked October 17, 2026
- Most campsites have a 2-night minimum. Same-day bookings run until 2 p.m. Source, checked October 27, 2026
